How To Buy A Marquee
When you are looking for marquees for sale, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the options available. Rather than wasting your hard earned money by opting for either the first one or the cheapest one you see, it helps if you take some time to think about your requirements before you take the plunge. Firstly, think about the size of marquee you need. This will be determined by both the size of the space you have available to erect it; and the numbers of people you expect to host within it.
Choosing The Right Size Of Marquee For Your Needs
Measure your garden or outdoor area to establish how large or small a tent you can comfortably fit within it, making sure you still leave plenty of room for guests to manoeuvre around it outside. In terms of size, remember that there will be less room for occupants if you intend to have tables and chairs. Using square or rectangular tables will allow for more guests; round tables may accommodate fewer. Equally, remember that if you want to incorporate a dance floor, you will have less seating available. As a rough guide, a 3m x 3m party tent can comfortably accommodate between six to ten guests seated or seven to 15 standing. A 6m x 6m tent might hold between 15 and 40 seated guests, while between 20 and 60 can mingle with ease if there are no tables. Perhaps your garden is awkwardly shaped or sized? In that case, it is always possible to buy two marquees that can be connected with a walkway, if necessary. This is also good as it adds flexibility to your arrangement. You may only need to use one of the tents for a small gathering, but you can extend your hospitality with the second for larger parties.
How Often Will You Use Your Party Tent?
Another consideration is the regularity with which you will use the marquee. If you host frequent parties and gatherings, then it is likely that you will want something more sturdy than a tent that will be used only occasionally. This is because of factors such as the length of time your tent will be exposed to the elements – the wind, rain and so on. It’s also more likely that a marquee that is frequently used will undergo wear and tear from being erected and put down on a regular basis. Also, accidental damage by guests or pets is always a possibility! Look at the options available from your dealer and ask about durability. If you are considering a PVC marquee, for instance, it’s worth being aware that the material comes in different weights. The higher the figure quoted for grams per square metre (the gsm), the more heavy duty and therefore long-lasting the tent will be. If your marquee is for commercial use, as a venue for wedding receptions, for instance, speak to your dealer about professional quality options.
